De Rosa was born in this historical moment, in the first post-war period when there was the desire to create: Cinelli was born in 1948, Colnago in 1954. Milan is energetic. The ideas feed the dreams and the desire to work is marking the step between the builders: Ugo started as a mechanic but his bicycles are "geometrically innovative" and the riders want to run on De Rosa Bikes. At the end of the 1960s, the frames crossed national borders: in Europe, amateurs and professionals began riding on De Rosa bikes and, from there to a few years, the "Made in Cusano Milanino" frames crossed European borders. During the decade there are several riders who start to choose De Rosa as a builder: Ugo builds for Gastone Nencini's Max Mayer, in '69 begins the collaboration with Gianni Motta that will last throughout his career, as well as that with Eddy Merckx. These are the years in which Rick Van Looy won the world championships: De Rosa is his mechanic and follows him in the team car.
Bianchi is the most historic and prestigious brand of bicycles. Our heritage, over 130 years strong, started in Milan in 1885 with Edoardo Bianchi, cannot be equalled in the cycling world. Our positioning embodies the best of what Italy can offer to the world: a commitment to build products as artisans – “a regola d’arte”, distinguishing design, style and taste. Our wide-range of products fans out gradually to meet the needs of the professional and the casual rider, one who loves nature or one who simply wants to move quickly through urban traffic. We provide the ideal bicycle for every type of cyclist. Edoardo Bianchi said that the best way to test a product was to race it. That’s how the Reparto Corse or Racing Department was born. You can always learn something from man’s extreme fatigue racing a bike. Bianchi has always been able to take full advantage from those sensations and feedback to improve and test every bike thoroughly. Just like in motor racing, we have always had a dedicated division following the riders to improve in competitions. Innovation, science and technology come together with man’s sensations. It is not a mystery that for over 100 years this dedication has allowed our champions to win and enabled Bianchi to deliver excellence.
ALAN was founded in 1972 by Eng. Lodovico Falconi with the name derived from the names of his children Alberto (AL) and Annamaria (AN). The idea of Eng. Falconi to build bicycle frames in light alloy was born thinking that, since components in light aluminum alloy for the cycle sector were already being manufactured, it would probably also have been possible to make frames with this material. Immediately he went to work, and after various tests relating to the most suitable alloy and the glues to be used, with the foundation of ALAN, in 1972, he began the actual production and marketing of the ALAN frame with the exploitation of the patent referring to the particular and new construction technique of bicycle frames in light aluminum alloy or other materials not suitable for traditional welding. The frames were constructed with a unique method by bonding tubes and lugs using a special glue which originated from the aeronautical industry. This method has become a distinguishing factor for ALAN, well noted by the high level frames developed and tested throughout racing over the years which has permitted the creation of innovative and yet functional solutions by combining diverse materials which are normally prohibitive using traditional welding methods.
